The charts

The charts contain the majority of the information found on Entropedia. They contain information about items, skills, avatars etc. On the top of each chart are the names of the column. When you hover over this name a tool-tip appears that shows a description of the column. On the bottem of each chart are the units of the values.

Each item in the charts can be edited, although for most charts an account is needed to be able to edit. For a full overview of the access level of all charts, see here. In some charts there are special columns which are not just data fields that can be edited. An overview of the type of columns:

  • Editable field - This is a regular field that can be edited. The value that can be entered is dependent on the type, which can be a string or a number.
  • Drop-down - In a drop-down column it is only possible to select a value that is available in the drop-down menu. The drop-down menu is filled with values from an other chart. For example, the drop-down menu "Loot frequency" in the loot chart gets it values from the loot frequency chart. When the value you wish to add is missing it had to be added to the corresponding chart.
  • Confirmed - A confirm field means that the value can be confirmed by a trusted member. When a trusted member has confirmed the value it can no longer be edited by non-trusted members. Values that are confirmed show up in black while unconfirmed values show up in gray.
  • Formula - In a formula field the displayed values are calculated from other fields. These type of fields can not be edited. Instead, the fields used in the calculation can be edited. An example of this type of field is the Dmg/sec field in the weapons chart.
  • Markup - The markup is found in all charts that contain items that can be sold on auction. It contains the markup value of the items either based on PEAuction or used input. Whenever this value is edited, the "Markup source" field needs to be adjusted accordingly. When the value of the markup source is "PEAacion", the markup field is automatically updated with markup values from PEAuction every 24 hours.
  • Image - This field contains an image. Adding an image is described below.

Removing an item

Items on Entropedia can not be deleted by users, only made invisible, effectively removing them. To remove items from the chart, follow the same procedure as describe in "Update an item", and check the check-box "

View the update history of a single item

If you doubt that the data of an item is correct, you can check what the update history of this single item is.

  1. Click on the check-box in front of the item.
  2. Click on the "Show selected" tab.
  3. Click on the "History" tab.

You can now see what was changed, when, and by who.

Attach an image to an item

Most items in the charts can have one, or sometimes two, images. These images are stored in special columns called image columns, and the images appears as numbers when the items are edited. These numbers are references to the images in the Gallery. Upload an image to the gallery to get an Image ID. You can then type the Image ID in the image column to set the image of the item to that image. Type 0 to remove the existing image.

You can also attach an image to an item when you are uploading the image. All image columns are listed at Assign to in the Add image field. Just select the column and the item you want to assign the image to before you select your image file.

Undo changes

To undo changes, either go to the history as described above, or go to the Latest update page and look up the edit you want to undo, and press on the button in the "Undo" column.

Mark changes

When you encounter a value that seems incorrect but you are not sure about it, you can mark it. The process is similar to undoing changes, except instead of the "Undo" button, the "Mark" button needs to be clicked.

Skill-based charts

The skill-based stats option is there to see how efficient you are with different items for your avatars profession levels. Since allot of items reach their maximum efficiency at a different profession level, there can be huge differences in your efficiency, compared to the regular chart.
Currently the skill-based option is available for the Weapons and the Medical Tools chart.

To make the skill-based charts working you need to have done the following things:

  1. Register an account. This can be done on the Account page.
  2. Create an avatar. You must add your avatar in the Avatars chart.
  3. Link your avatar to your account. This can be done on the Account page.
  4. Add your profession levels. You can now add your avatars profession levels in the Avatar Professions chart. Make sure you choose your own avatar when making a new entry.

Pages

Pages on Entropedia are similar to the pages on Wikipedia. Most of the functionality on Wikipedia is also integrated in Entropedia.

Editing and creating pages

A new page can be created by using this URL: www.entropiawiki.com/Page.aspx?page={Name of the page}. To edit the page, click on the "Edit" tab on top of the page. More information on editing pages and the Wiki syntax can be found here. To see an overview of all edits made to a page, click on the "History" tab. This enables you to view and compare older version of the page.

Info pages

The info pages contain detailed information on a single item. It consists of a regular page as described above, plus some extras. The page can be edited by clicking on the "Edit" tab. By default, on the right there is a box that displays all the information about the item from the chart it is originally in. To edit this information, click on "edit" inside this box. This box can not be removed. On the bottom there is information from other charts that contain the item. For example, on the Aetherex info page, you can also find all the corresponding items from the loot chart. Adding items to these chart can be done from the info pages by clicking on "Add item" right of the header.

Maps

The maps make use of Google Maps with the maps from Entropia Universe as overlay. There is also an overlay with locations that can be edited and added by users. These locations are of different categories, which can be seen in the panel left of the map. To show or hide certain categories, check or uncheck the box next to it and click on "Set". It is also possible to search for locations. Type (part of) the name of the location you look for and press the search button. The search will be limited to the map that is currently visible.

Adding and editing locations

To add a location, first go to the correct map and location, then click on the "Add location" tab. To edit a location, either click on it on the map, or click on "view/edit" in the table below the map. After starting adding or editing an item you will enter edit mode, and you will see a panel on the right side of the map.
When adding a new item you first need to select the type of item you want to add. The item you are adding or editing will also show in the map. You can change its position either by dragging it or my typing it in the panel. Values that are altered in the panel will not updated on the map untill the changes are saved. Here is an overview of all the fields available:

  • Type - Type of location, such as teleporter, mob, land area etc.
  • Name - Name of the location you want to add. Some locations do not need a name, such as revival areas. Other locations require the location you want to add to exist in one of the charts on Entropedia, for example cities. When the wanted name is not listed in the drop-down list it needs to be added in the corresponding chart.
  • Longitude/Latitude - Position of the location.
  • Add/Remove polygon - Some locations allow you to draw a polygon, for example land areas. By clicking on "Add polygon" the polygon is directly drawn into the map. You can edit the polygon by dragging the vertexes on the map. Adding vertexes is done by clicking on a transparent vertex between two solid vertexes, removing vertexes is done by clicking on them once without moving the mouse. The loose polygon is where the name will show up once the location is saved.
  • Image ID - Some locations allow you to add a custom image, such as POI. When you leave image height and image width zero, the image will be drawn in the original size on all zoom level. When you enter a value, the image will be projected on the map corresponding to the values. Zooming the map in will also make the image zoom in.
  • Vertical text offset - With vertical text offset it is possible to prevent overlapping of names of locations that are close to each other.
  • Comments - Comments will show up in the update history.

Naming

There are two parameters to control the names showing the on map, vertical text offset and text zoom level. Vertical text offset is used to prevent overlapping of names. To move the text up, use a negative value, to move the text down use a positive value. The value is the number of pixels the text is moved up or down. This is the same on every zoom level.

Often an area contains a city, outpost, teleporter and revival point close to each other. To avoid duplicate names overlapping, only one of these should show at all zoom levels. The order of priority when choosing a zoom level for a name is 1) city,  2) outpost, 3) teleporter and 4) revival point. For land areas the order is 1) land area, 2) revival point, 3) claim marker. When the text zoom level is 0 it means the text is shown at any zoom level. The unit of the text zoom level is in meter/pixel. This means that low values will result that the name will start to show up at high zoom level on the map. For example, when a teleporter is added close to a city, the text zoom level should be low (for example 1), while the zoom level of the city should be 0 (which means it will show at any zoom level). So in fact, the text zoom level is actually the scale a text will show up, where for example a scale or 1:1 is very detailed, while a scale of 1:16 is a lot less detailed.

Land Areas

When adding land areas, there is a loose vertex that will be the position of the name text. Try to place the text in the left bottom, but also try to avoid overlap with other text. When adding mobs that are in the whole land area, you should enter a spawn size of 0x0.
